Warren School District Migrant Education Program
What is Migrant Education?
The Migrant Education Program is available to schools and families across the United States. It focuses on helping families who work in agriculture, families like yours who know the importance of a good education for your children and realize the impact it can have on your entire family. You may be eligible for a variety of local services to assist you and your children. A migrant recruiter would be happy to visit with you to determine if you are eligible for this program and what benefits the program may offer your family.
How can it help my children?
The Migrant Education Program works to ensure that migrant students (ages 3 to 21) fully benefit from the same free public education (pre-k-12) provided to other students. This program offers services to help reduce the educational disruptions and other problems that result from repeated moves. Many services are available to migrant students in addition to the educational services provided by your school district. All services are provided free of charge. You want to give your children every advantage you can in life. The Migrant Education Program is one of those advantages.
How do I qualify?
To be eligible for this opportunity, you must have moved to a new school dsitrict within the past three years, for economic necessity, and have worked or are working at an agicultural or fishing job. The work must be temporary or seasonal employment in farm work, fishing, planting and/or harvesting trees, and food processing plants such as poultry, beef, pork, vegetables, and fruit. The child or youth must be twenty-one years of age or less, without a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
